What is this for? Took my console out to add a replacement cup holder and replace the 12v plugs. I've got two power plugs for the two 12v items, but then this other wire was just open and unused. One of the 12v plugs is wrapped up with this.

I think that's the harness if you had traction control?

 

I guess it isn't too farfetched that they would reuse the same harness for multiple trims. It didn't have it when I bought it used 18 years ago, not sure if it would have had it from the factory or not. I don't have the traction control button for it on the console, just the cubby and the lighter.

 

Non powered seat cars had the power harness under the carpet. Wouldn't shock me if they did it for the tc and or convertible top?

 

I just read it was an option for the 99 TA to have TCS, so I'm guessing the harness was just stuffed back into the console for non-TCS. No biggie, was just making sure I didn't miss plugging something back in 😁. My driver seat is powered but I didn't check to see if it still worked after I plugged everything in... I'll check that.

 

Powered seats still work, but I realized when I got in to drive it around that I didn't get any audio through any of the speakers so it must bring power back to the amp. I'll take it all apart again and try to find where the other connection hid itself. I'm guessing it got stuffed under the carpet while I was trying to get the console back in.

 

Plot thickens, I got in my car after work and the speakers worked?!?! So, at a loss again. Haven't tried to open it up again yet to see if something is disconnected/hidden below the carpet opening like I suspected, but at this point I still have no idea what it is for. Clearly I have other electrical issues, which I'll hopefully get checked soon.

 

Yes. The non-TC cars had the plug on the harness and it just floats behind the console like you have it.

You should have a little cubby that fits in the vertical cutout in the console. Convertables and TC cars had a panel there, where the convertable and TC switches were mounted.

 

All the radio wires are behind the dash. When in the area you are working in, you can still tug on them. For the stock radio it wasn't hard to pull out the antenna wire. If you have an aftermarket radio, it could be anything depnding on what adapter you have.
