hello, i bought a 1994 firebird formula a few months ago and have rebuilt the motor and trans on it and I'm currently trying to figure out why my brake lights don't work when my running lights are on, they work when the running lights are off (the hatch one always works).
But i was taking a peak at the interior dimmer and switch for the headlights/running lights and found a random connector and i can't seem to find where it plugs in at it was already unplugged when i pulled it out. could anyone help?

Ignoring the extra connector for now, since it's not related to the brake light problem, can you describe the symptoms in a little more detail? Do the rear turn signals work when the running lights are on? Do the running lights look normal or are they brighter or dimmer than normal? I'm getting at the possibility that the ground is bad and that the lights are back-feeding to ground through the other filament in each bulb. Current can't back-feed when the other filament is powered (i.e. when the running lights are on) which could explain why they work alone but not in combination.

yes, they do work and the turn signals do work with the running lights on. the running lights appeared to be kind of dim like how they are normally. (I never got to see them without this issue so I could be wrong) also the random connector was an extra for the trans am variant of the car with the fog lights and switch.
it has been a while since i fixed this issue but if you are having trouble with your break lights more than likely its just a harness or connector issue. Just swap a 1998-2002 taillight harness in and your golden, they use a different bulb and socket but it is super easy to install.
