Default Dash Cross Compatibility Question

I have a 99 3.8 camaro I知 working on rebuilding to sell, I知 having issues with the dash not displaying anything but the voltage gauge and odometer . I spoke with the previous owner and he said he put a junkyard dash in it because his odometer LCD died.

I知 wondering if he put a drive by cable dash in instead of a drive by wire one. Are they the same dash and I have another issue or will they not work the same?

The connection between the pedal and the throttle body does not pass through the dash or connect in any other way I知 aware of. Not sure why that would matter. The dash gets all its info off the vpw bus and pulses from the ecu for vss and rpm.

Did you try replacing the GAUGES fuse as suggested in your other thread on this same subject? Certainly easier than trying to track down an unrelated issue like drive-by-wire versus drive-by-cable.
