Question New key or bypass VATS? 1998 Z28

I was wondering if I should get a new key with the correct Ohm value or just bypass the VATS. I understand it could be bad contact on the ignition switch and not reading the key ohms. I ordered the resistors to bypass VATS, but I was wondering if I should try a new key first. 1998 Camaro Z28.
Thanks

When my security light came on and my Firebird had issues, I replaced the ignition cylinder lock and had a new key programmed. It worked for me. I have no experience with the VATS bypass with the resistors, but that seems complicated to me. Good luck.
