Default amp fan wiring

i'm thinking of buying a couple of computer fans and wiring them into the remote wire (12v ignition) and then grounding them, that way they can cool my amp. i don't know if this would work... i have a 15 amp fuse i'm going to put in on the remote wire for several safety reasons. opinions? or are there better fans to use?

If you have one amp, and want to use one fan, The remote wire should have enough current to run both, and you might encounter some noise while doing this. However, if you want to do more than that, you will have to use a relay to make it work, as the deck may not be able to supply enough current to run everything. I would wire a SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) relay to switch 12v to your fans when it recieves voltage from the remote of your deck. wire the relay like this: http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#rtol

This way, you can run neon, fans, whatever, and they will be switched on/off with the turning on/off of your deck, without drawing too much power from it. Hope this helps!

thanks! one thing i don't get though...

the 87 is a second 12v power wire? so my remote wire would be on the 86, and then the 87 would go to another constant 12v?

or does the 86 just go to my amp?

86 connects to the remote lead coming from the deck,
87 connects to your car's battery,
85 connects to ground,
30 is your 12v for the fans, and is also the new remote for the amp(s)
87a is not used.

The 12v from the battery is the actual supply of power for the output of the relay. the deck remote power is used only to signal the relay to connect the 12v input to the output. All a relay is is a switch. I should of clarified earlier, when I say 12v battery, I just mean power from the battery. You can hook 87 to your amp power wire with some 14-16 gauge wire.
