New front speaker idea!
having said that, i think if you are going to do anything to your system, you should redo it. i've done the cheap routes before like everyone wants to do, and it ended up with me going all aftermarket. in all honesty, if you really want a system that sounds decent, it's a good idea to just start off planning to go aftermarket completely. don't waste money (or anymore) in those in-between stages.
do the alpines you have sound good with your aftermarket amp? what's the power on those? if they sound good but aren't working with your monsoon well, LEAVE THEM! spend some money on a good deck, get some more money and spend on a sub and an amp, and you've got yourself a quality system - it will sound LOADS better than anything you hook up to the monsoon.
i just can't urge you enough to skip trying to work with the monsoon. aftermarket or stock, in my opinion, are the only two options. since you've started, do it right. fbodyaudio.com will help you more. you have a head start with a decent pair of component speakers. i'm running alpine's lower model of those components, but the coaxial version, and i have absolutely no complaints.

I'll try just listening to just the fronts again when i get some real nice components up there to see how it sounds.
