Default component speakers

I have a 02 ws6 m6 ta with the monsoon. I have two 10' mtx 8000 dual voice coils with 1500 watt mtx thunder amp. I am looking to run two pairs of the mtx 8.6t 6.5 components with the 6.5 in the the spot behind the seat and the extra pair of tweets up front in the doors with the other pair of components. My question is will the stock hu and amp run these speakers or are the components too much. I think it should work and will sound pretty good. What do you guys think.

No if you do that you might as well get a 4 channel amp to because the monsoon amp filter's out differerent freqeuncy's to your factory speakers. where ideally you want all freq. sent to your component system's and use the crossover that comes with the system because they eq it to sound perfect with the component system. If your going to run two systems the monsoon doesn't really make enough power to run them. It does but it don't. Also you could put the extra pair of tweeters on the front doors but ideally you want them close to the midrange they come with for optimal performance.

Thanks I was told if I put the full component set the tweet and 6.5 in the rear behind the seat it would make the set in the doors not sound as good.

I haven't ever heard that but it is possible. I think you would be fine though since you have to tens in the back. Of cource every sytem is different. Pretty much the rule of thumb in cars just for basic sound is you want your high range speakers up front close to you and you want big bass coming form the back. But like I said I think you will be fine with your subs. I thnk they will even the sound out. Good luck with your system.

unless the only reeason u want mtx components or coax speakers is to keep the brand the same, id suggest to get a different brand. MTx does not make their own speakers, Pioneer makes their speakers. I highly recommend spending the extra money to get a good 4 channel amp, it makes the world of difference.

Yeah I kinda want to keep the brand the same. But I want it to sound good. I heard a couple setups with the mtx 8.6 6.5's and they sounded pretty good and I can get two pairs for about 375 bucks. If I don't do mtx I think I going to go with jl audio. But I am also looking at diamond audio and mb quartz. What do you guys think.

2000 Z28. I blew my left stock door speaker, so I hunted around and found a nice set of 6.5 component speakers. They very closely match the stock wattage rating.
They are MB Quart RCE 216 6-1/2" Reference Components RCE216. My friend and I are each paying half. He is getting the crossovers for his truck, and I am taking the 2x 6.5's and the 2x .75" tweeters. The stock tweeters are run right off of the deck at 4 ohms so that is how I will hook up the MB quart tweeters. The 6.5's are 2 ohm right off of the Monsoon amp so I will run it off that way. These are very cool speakers because they enable you to snap the tweeter right into the center of the 6.5 for a "Coaxial type" setup and best position for sound blend. I understand that the crossover that came with the MB's are designed for best possible crossover frequency, but my buddy did the same thing by not using the crossover (only a resistor to prevent lows and mids from getting to the speaker) and everything sounded really good. So I'm not too worried about it. The stock door speakers are component speakers, not 2-way. Separate wires feed the tweeter and mid although both speakers are molded into the same frame.
If I'm going off track here, apologies.

Actually, you need a resistor and a capacitor to make a high-pass filter to protect your tweeters. Hopefully one of the other guys that works in the radio biz can get in here and tell you which ones to get because I've only done theory with them (EE301).

Calculate for a 12db octave crossover with a high-pass and low-pass impedance of 4 ohms, then the crossover freq of 6000Hz:

where are some good sources to look online for speakers. Also what size amp should I look for to power two sets of 6.5's components.
