My Delco tooka dump as well. The paint is peeling off under the hood where the acid leaked. I went with an Optima SEALED battery. No more leaks.

Those AC/Delco batteries are weird, as my 96 Bird went 4-1/2 years w/no problems, but my 94 Bird battery went up in 2 years............go figure!

I guess any battery will do then. I use optima cause it lasts forever, its sealed, and its light. I think my old optima was still good after almost 4 years of use.

Im just now finding humor in the title of this thread

If you're running a system, such as a stealth box and components all around, I was told that I should upgrade alt and batt. I'm still using the Delco batt, but I'm pretty certain to get a optima. Should it be a red top or yellow top that'll perform best?

Battery first, then alt IF required.....depends on current draw, which is determined by your system. Take the cheapest route out first IMO

Get a yellow top, they have more capacity.

Next step would be to get a cap. 1F for every 1000 watts. make the + wire as close to the amp as possible.

The last step I would take (not really needed in your application) is upgrade/new altenator.
