amp wiring help
I am helping a buddy put an amp in his 2004 chevy truck. He is using the stock headunit so we have to use the high level signal connectors instead of RCA connectors.
>The power, ground, and speaker wires are all ran correctly.
> we connected the remote wire and the power light flickers but will not stay constant.
I only have my camaro helms and not the helms or diagram to the truck so we are not positive about the wires from the truck.
There is a thick orange wire, a thinner orange wire, and a black/white wire. We have the left high level +/- to the brown/yellow wires from the truck. We have the right high level +/- to the blue/lt. blue wires from the truck. Then we have the remote from the amp connected to the thin orange wire.
When we connect the amp remote wire to the thin orange wire, the power light on the amp just flickers and we get no sound from the subs. But when we hook up the remote to the thick orange we get all the sound but the amp is always on (constant power). Does anybody know which wire from the truck can be used as a remote wire.?

You have to get remote turn on from some place other than behind the radio. You can grab anything else that would only get power when you key on the truck, try in the fuse box.
Also does this truck have the bose system?

take your remote turn on from your ign wire. or anything else that gets power when the car is turned on. make sure u use a test light. u don't want to give your amp a constant and leave your amp on all the time.
i also recommend u use a relay in the remote turn-on line.
