Default sail panel speakers

What are some of the best speakers out there for our sailpanels. For use with aftermarket HU and amp as well. Something that won't sound all shitty cause it requires an enclosure. Something with some bass too.

This is the same as a "What Cam" or "best Cam" thread. I'm not ******* on you. The best choice for you boils down to what type of music you listen too and which priorities come into play such as
1. Cost
2. Loudness
3. efficiency
4. size
5. power handeling

Pioneers are great for the money, On the other side Focal's or Dynaudios are the Best.
Alpines are really good too. Also do you care about where the sound comes from or do you want it to just sound loud.

You will never get "bass" from a 6" speaker. That is what a sub is for. You will kill that size speaker if you try to. If you are going to "amp" them, How much. Get a little more specific on the Amp side and I can help out a little more. Off a head unit almost any speaker will work.

Most of the OEM style "drop in" speakers willwork in that enviroment because they are designed to run in "free-air".

short answer...
read the sticky! Also the subs mentioned in the sticky have been discontinued. There are a few subs that "might" work well, Kicker, Pioneer, Audiobahn, etc.. You will need to find one that has a high effeciency rating and wattage. Ohm is also a factor as the OEM subs are 2ohm, and most of your aftermarkets are 4ohm, except audiobahn which is 3ohm. It has been said that the Audiobahn's sound like crap, but I have not yet seen that nor heard them.

I'm pretty much looking for peoples experiences and any new **** that might be out there. Cost is not an extreme concern and there are not a ton of speakers out there that sound good in a free air set up. As far as music is concerned I didn't list it cause everything is played in the car except country. I just want to know what has worked for people. I have gone through 5 different setups but have not been happy. I currently run Audiobahn midbass speakers in there and they are not designed for free air. They will work but are not optimal.

OK so you are looking for more "sound Quality" right. What comprises your system and what hasn't sounded good to you?

Also you said headunit. Monsoon or aftermarket?

Midbass speakers are meant to get more of an impact sound. Sort of like how a sub makes for volume, the Mid-bass will get you more of the "kick". Installed and set up right they should make drums shound much better. Rap really doesn't incorporate this much. But you said almost anything. (I can't stand country either.) so Components are a must for the type of sound you are looking for.

I have Audiobahn components in the doors and midbasses in the sail panels. I was just told by audiobahn that they work better in an enclosure. I was looking for some top quality midbass speakers that worked well in a free air setup. I have amps to run everything. I think the one running the mids is a 75wx4 amp. It is audiobahn as well and the HU is a Sony MEQ900 or something. The one that loads **** off of memory sticks on to the screen and all tat jazz. I want good tight bass from my mids and low distortion at higher volumes.

NO. Thank firebirdude. I looked at his install and saw these speaker and took a good look at them. They seem REALLY good for the money, and spec wise look to perform nicely.
