Pioneers are great for the money, On the other side Focal's or Dynaudios are the Best.
Alpines are really good too. Also do you care about where the sound comes from or do you want it to just sound loud.
You will never get "bass" from a 6" speaker. That is what a sub is for. You will kill that size speaker if you try to. If you are going to "amp" them, How much. Get a little more specific on the Amp side and I can help out a little more. Off a head unit almost any speaker will work.
Most of the OEM style "drop in" speakers willwork in that enviroment because they are designed to run in "free-air".
read the sticky! Also the subs mentioned in the sticky have been discontinued. There are a few subs that "might" work well, Kicker, Pioneer, Audiobahn, etc.. You will need to find one that has a high effeciency rating and wattage. Ohm is also a factor as the OEM subs are 2ohm, and most of your aftermarkets are 4ohm, except audiobahn which is 3ohm. It has been said that the Audiobahn's sound like crap, but I have not yet seen that nor heard them.
Also you said headunit. Monsoon or aftermarket?
