Upgrading convertible Monsoon system
So I swapped in my SONY head unit (a really nice Xplod unit made before the Xplod name was totally cheapened). This head unit in a previous car without amps at all could crank out some really nice and clear sound including some decently strong bass. So I expected a nice improvement in the Camaro. I got a lot more clarity and a ton of adjustability. However the rest of the system really shows its limits. The bass just goes to pot at a level I think is too low given the power the stock amp supposedly has, 200W my ***!
Is it the amp or the speakers that suck? I can't tell without swapping something out. I want to spend money in the best place first. I am thinking of ditching the amp and driving some new speakers directly.
Anyone have any advice?
the entire monsoon system is a great system when its new, the problem is that the cones are paper and dont last long, not that the speakers are blown, i guess you could say that the paper cones half-@$$ deteriorate over time lol
...the only question i have with wiring the cross-overs is, theres one input, so can i take the lead wires from both the tweeter and mid, and put them in the input on the cross over together?
