Question 1999 (not sure if late or early) Monsoon HU

So, if I have a 99 WS6 How can I tell if it is an older one or a newer one?

You can't, really. There is no information in the service or parts manuals that indicate when the change was made or ranges of serial numbers. The manuals just say "1st production" or "2nd production". The only way to tell is to try it. If it doesn't work then you would have to get a newer head unit - perhaps from somebody selling one in the for sale section here.
