some questions Alright audio gurus I got some questions for you guys. First off, I just put 4 6.5" boston acustics speakers in my truck and it sounds very clean which is just what I was looking for cause I listen to a lot of rock. I am looking to upgrade my head unit (I have stock now) to get some more power to those speaker cause I know they would be much better with a good HU. Any suggestions for some good one? I wanna keep it in the $250 range. Now its my moms b-day and I wanna get her a head unit for her 1996 caddy deville. I don't know if its a double din or not, it sure looks it cause the stock HU is huge. My friend has a clarion HU out of a 1996 impala SS and it is a double din and I was planning on buying it for the caddy. Thanks for your help.

Your wanting more power or an aftermarket head unit?
If your wanting to give them the power they need. I recommend some filters, high to low level converter (pac makes a good one) and a good 4 channel amp (rockford fosgate comes to mind)
A head unit will not produce what they say they will. When you see a HU that says it will put out 70x4 (280 watts). Ask your self, how big is a real 280w amp and look at the size of the HU.
Panasonic has been putting tri-path chips which are the most in terms of watts so far for a HU. That maybe an option worth looking into for you.

get your self a nice pioneer headunit, make sure it has 3 sets of rca outputs. and then when u save up more money pick up a nice 4 channel amp.
also if u get that HU later if u decide to add a sub u will be fine withnothing more than a sub amp to buy.
as for what 2muchricemakesmesick said : he is right with the headunits saying like 50w x 4 that is rated max power, RMS u are getting like 15-20watts per channel, but it still does not compare to the sound of if u bought like a 25watt per channel fosgate or what ever good name amp.
