Default How do you get the monsoon headunit out?

I am trying to do the antenna modification (splicing the pink wire to a switch), but I cannot get the monsoon head unit to come out.

I have taken off the trim, removed the hex screws, but the headunit only comes abount 2-3 inches out. I have to forcefully pull the headunit pretty hard to get it to come out halfway.

When I pull on it, I can hear what sounds like insulation rubbing against metal. I am assuming that is from the wires & plugs on the back of the radio, or it could be from the heat controls just below the monsoon headunit. Anyways...

I have tried reaching my hand in from the floor up through the console on both sides, no luck. I think I was able to find the thick pack of wires that runs from the drivers side up to the back of the radio and it didn't have much room to move (so I could loosen it and get the headunit out further).

Am I missing something? I took the shifter console apart too, but that really didn't help anything besides making the switch install into the TCS plate easier.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

All I can think of is you have a wire from the stock harness wrapped around the support tab in the back of the cage. The unit should slide in and out pretty easily. I just switched out my HU a week ago. I have a Camaro.
