JL amps will not run at 1 ohm, they almost instantly go into protection if they see anything under 1.5 ohms. The unique thing about them is that they make the same amount of power seeing any load between 1.5 and 4. They also have a regulated power supply and make the same amount of power between 11.5 and 15 volts. The 250/1 is actually about 350 watts rms. If you check the ac volts it puts out and plug that in to the correct formula it should yield around 350 every one I have tested has been about that much. Also for the gain you can set that with a volt meter also, it tells you how right in the manual that you get with the amp.
