Default Alpine Type S or R

I am thinking about replacing my stock speakers with these throughout the car for now because mine are almost all blown, which one would you recomend and do you think they will be good in all locations of the monsoon system. Also do you think I could get some 5x7's to fit in the rear of the car. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I have the type-r 6.5in components up front and the type-r 6.5in coax's in the sail panel and I think they sound great. I listened to the type-s in the the store and I really didn't like them too much...
Are you planning to keep then stock monsson amp? I don't think it is good enought to power the type-r's. I bought an 80w per channel amp, and just kept the gain turned down a bit since the speakers can only handle 70w and 50w repectively. I don't have anything in the rear (except my 2 10's in the trunk), I don't think you really need any thing back there. Good luck!

I think the Rs are the better of the two lines. Dont care for them too much, better brands for the price. Just my opinion.

Alpine makes good amps, subs and head units but there speakers aren't so great. If you insist on getting them get the type R. I'd personally go with MB Quart, Infinity Perfects, Canton or Focal.

i wnet with the infinity components (6000cs), got them from circuitcity, i love them, there really clear, i have them running off the stock amp, the rear speakers are stock, there blown but i adjust the fade more to the front so it helps with the distortion of the stock rear speakers

Did you just cut the two wires and wire them to the two wires on the new speakers or did you follow the steps in the Sticky Forum on changing Monsoon speakers and wire the tweeter and woofer seperate.

Where did you get them from and about how much did you spend for them. I am assuming since you have a Firebird is why you didn't have to wire them any different I think the wireing is a little different for the Camaro, I will have to check into that, but I think I am going to go the Infinity route, thanks everyone.

I just put the Type S 6 1/2 components up front in my car along with Type R 6 1/2" coaxials in the sail panels powered by an Alpine 55x4 amp. I must say that if I could do it all over again I wouldn't go with these speakers. The mids are okay buy the highs sound flat. I think they are a soft dome tweeter which I don't like. I think the $99 Polks in my Mustang getting 40 watts sound just as good. Alpine's amps are GREAT but I'm not a huge fan of these speakers.

Did you listen to them before getting the type S's?

Why not go with a matched set of Type R's all around?
