Default XM radio mount

I recently installed XM radio in my 02 Z.. I have the stand alone unit that mounts off somewhere else and is wired into the indash radio.. I tried to use the adhesive strip and mounth it to the dash but after a couple weeks it fell off .. Just wondering where everyone else has mounted theres and how.. I dont want to screw into my dash and I have a 6 speed so I cant really see how I could mount it on the center console.. any ideas?..

Im not sure what is the best way to mount it. I guess you could make a bracket that attaches to one of the radio screws and holds it to the side or above the radio. There is one available at Best Buy but they want $30 for what is basically bent 3X4 flat stock that was drilled full of holes and painted black....what a rip-off.

Off-topic, but your sig is too big (500X150 limit).

I used the VSM (vehicle specific mount) for my T/A, put the Skifi too far out, and blocked the passenger cup holder, so I changed radios to a Roady2 ($56.00 @ Amazon with the coupon code)
Skifi2

Roady2

Not XM but you could probably do something similar. All I did was use the existing screw that holds that panel in and ran it through the mount with the adhesive tape that came with it. Hasn't budged! It doesnt hit your knees and its easy to see.

That Sirius unit sucks in keypad design. the JVC of similer shape is far better.

Its hard to find good mounting places for these big screened addon devices. the Sony XM01 and Kenwood H2A were a far better look for cars like ours and sedans. Trucks, SUVs, ect don't have the same issues as ours as far as mounting goes.

Mine was real easy, just snap off the trim ring around radio/hvac, and bend a chunk of sheet metal to hug the dash. Drill holes that mount to sat. controller, and a pair of holes to mount where the factory radio mounts, and screw it down. I spent maybe fifteen minutes on this. If you need pictures, I can get some this weekend.

Thumbs up

Not a SkyFi, but here's a pic of my Roady installation. Just an idea. The picture was actually taken before I moved it a bit more to the right, so there is hardly any of the bracket visible anymore.

You have to cut and paste the link. the server detects click to's and hotlinks and blocks them. link to either the thread or paste the link and we have to Cut'n'paste

No they dont.
They show up for you (and others that have already seen them) due to caching.
