Default Electronic Traction Control Question

What years of the Camaro SS came with the Electronic Traction Control switch where you could turn it on and off on the dash??

All of them - if you have traction control then you have a switch. Even the V6 models equipped with traction control have the switch.

All of them have the option available from the dealership. Ive seen some v6s (firebirds) that have traction control but dont have the TCS switch above the radio.

How do they do that? Install a different ABS controller or something?

Sorry, traction control is a factory installed option only - it can't be added at the dealership. The TCS consists of a different brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) than the standard ABS version; an electronic brake and traction control module (EBTCM); different wheel speed sensors in the back; an electronic acceleration control module; and different hydraulic lines plus the different wiring to connect it all. This is because the standard ABS system has only three hydraulic circuits - one for each front wheel and a shared one for both back wheels. A TCS equipped vehicle has a four circuit hydraulic system - each wheel gets its own circuit.

If there's no switch, there's no TCS (or ASR on Camaros). If in doubt, check for option code NW9 on the door panel.
