Power Antenna Installation in a Camaro

Power Antenna Installation in a Camaro
Has anyone put a Power antenna in their 98-02 Camaro? Should there be a plug in the wiring harness already? I have the Monsoon stereo in mine and can't find the plug end to hook up the power antenna. Any help would be greatly appreciated... jwcej@msn.com

What do you mean about a plug?
It plugs inplace of the non-power antenna.
You have to splice in the power yourself and use a switch to raise and lower the antenna.

As far as I know there is no connector for a power antenna on the Camaro. You have to run your own power, signal, & ground wires. (there is a connector on the other side for a 12disc CD player). I installed a used antenna from ebay, and I used http://www.blackcamaro.com/antenna.htm as my guide.
I did a couple things differently:
My antenna was the 10402860 (Black), but it had a different bracket than the web site used. It wasn't a problem, but you do need to bent the bracket a little to get the antenna to stand up straight left-to-right when extended. I did drill new holes in the antenna bracket and the body bracket to tip the antenna back when extended. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48...werAntenna.jpg
For the connection at the back of the radio, I had some old serial adapers from my computer. I busted one up and found a few unused connectors inside... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48...e/P1000085.jpg It slips right on the radio... completely idiot proof.
Looks and works great. I also installed a small bypass switch on the dash.
I'm not ready to talk about the drain tube... I want to see how it works first.

One of the best mod's I've done, since I use a car cover all the time. Just wished I would of installed a switch so when using the cd player, the power antenna would not go up. Again thanks for the help..
