new HU with stock components? time for a new CD player in the TA. looking to spend around 200$
with just replacing the stock HU there shouldnt be any loss of sound quality, or should there?
its goin to be installed whereever i end up buying it at, i just hope they know what there doin.

Don't let an installer try to tell you that you need a lot of special parts or custom wiring to replace a Monsoon head unit (they've been known to try that). The Monsoon HU is just like any other GM HU and requires no special handling because of the amp or speakers. You will need a mounting kit to make a DIN radio fit the 1.5 DIN opening in the dash; a wiring kit to make the new radio plug in to the factory radio harness; and an antenna adapter because GM uses a smaller antenna plug than everyone else.
