stumped....
stumped.... i want to put a system in my 98 TA but their are a fiew choices and i dunno which to do. rite now i have 2 1200Q audiobahn subs and i just orderd a t-top box from subthump. one choice is to keep the subs and get a 800x2 or larger amp. the second choice is to sell the audiobahn subs and order 2 12" MTX 5500 and get a 400x2 amp. which would you do? and which would hit the hardest?

First off, Did you buy the box speced for the Audiobahn subs or did you get it speced for MTX subs. They ask that when you order the box. Reason being, there is no universal sub box, every sub is different and acts differently in different encosures.
Whats the model number off of the sub. I do not see a 1200Q.

I agree with Stephen - no such thing as a "one size fits all" box. While I have no experience with the Audiobahn name, it's been said (in here as well as other places) that Audiobahn is popular because it's flashy, not becuase it's quality.
its an older sub and i got the box for the audiobahn. the part number is..... well, all i can find it AW1200Q. its the non flame basket 120oz magnent with the paper cone. if i ever decided to change speakers in that box would anything else work? or are you saying it just wont sound as good?

A given woofer requires a certain airspace to operate properly. A woofer, when placed in an airspace that is too large or too small will lose sound quality as well as total output. As I see it, you have some options:
1. See what it sounds like - you may be okay with what you have.
2. Sell just the subs and find subs that will work in the enclosure you have, given the volume of it.
3. Sell the whole package (subs and box) and start over with a new package. From what I've heard, it's tough to beat a 10 on one side and a 12 on the other in the side-panels under the sails in the fourth-gens.

i know plenty of subs that have the same airspace usage as these. the MTX subs for example that i was looking at. i just wanted to know what would sound beter. 2 audiobahn 12" with a 800x2 amp or 2 MTX 5500 with a 400x2 amp?
