Default Dead battery after heavy rain?

without even driving my car anywhere while wet or raining, my battery dies if we get a heavy storm with the car sitting outside...

not 100% dead but it has enough juice to click the starter a few times but not enough to even unlock the door...

where should I start trouble shooting this? I have installed nothing new to introduce this issue..

also just recently the gauges started to "freak out" when I turn the key and trip odometer resets itself... is all this releated somehow?

it has 90k on it... the battery is 2-3 months old Red top Optima...

I just checked everything I could as far as connections and they all were snug and clean

I am at a loss because it only happens when it rains...

is there water leaking to any wires? Under the carpet, in the trunk, under the hood?

nope... I followed everything I could see and made sure the connections were clean and snug.. no visable marks of arching either.. ..

could the battery just not be sealed proper and be having water get in the gel?

OK old school method:
use test light un hook ground and see if the test light lights bright (better if you if have a volt/ohm metter)
see if the light is very dim ... ok
then get the car wet. test again
if the light is brighter start by looking at fuse panals .. pull one fuse at a time to isolate the circuit.. more if needed

Oops. Almost editted instead of replied.

I agree. That's a good point and a place to start.

Also what Mods are done? Just the Ones in your Signature?
Installed Guages?
Aftermarket Stereo?
Aftermarket Alarm?
T-Top car?
