[QUOTE=Nova5] Portable unit that i can move from car to home. while sirius now has those same type of units their still behind XM in their size.... the sirius one like the SkiFi i have is twice as thick!

QUOTE]

I agree.....

When I was looking between the two it came down to the equipment. IMO XM is years ahead of Sirius in that department. The MyFi absolutley rocks.
Not sure about Sirius, but with XM you also get XM online as part of your service for free. It's nice for those days at work when you forget your reciever.

It all comes down to personal prefence in programming and equipment. Look at both and see what you prefer.

Sirius was giving their online away for free before XM. XMOnline is only a recent development and required a new contract with the RIAA for that service.

Hell sirius was giving it away to nonsubs for awhile before they cut that off! used sirius's webradio at work and XM on the drive!

* Sirius is $13.
* XM was $10 and charged extra for web streaming.
* XM is now $13 with web streaming included.

The RIAA and local FM/AM hate satellite radio. They are trying to get the FCC to put restrictions on it (and regulate it like FM). They hate what they cant control or profit from.

RIAA likes sat radio, they are already getting their money from it with the broadcast rights contract. its the FM broadcast clan that hates them because they can operate with far less restrictions than FM... hey FM get a clue... its a subscription service! you're not!

sirius just came out with new units availiable at your local RadioShack, a lot smaller than their previous. The Starmate is comprable to the smaller XM models (not familiar with there product names Delphi something maybe??) And keep in mind the all the new contracts. Sirius is signing a lot more deals as someone else stated, and is working on many others! You can also get 1 or 2 year contract which bring your monthly cost lower. And yes I sell Sirius so if you have other questions PM me and I can help further...

XM has 1-5 year "contracts" as well. they will refund a the unused prorated amount if you cancel early. I can't say if the same is true for Sirius as i don't know their service that well, should be true thou..

Sirius will refund or move the prorated portion to another account (like a family member or a friends account).

My vote goes to XM! I've had it for 1.5 years and I can't drive without it!

I had to get it... the only station around me that plays classic rock is far enough out that im on the edge of reception, any atmospheric shift causes me problems with reception.

Sirius all the way! I've listened to XM for a few days and just didn't like the selections they played. Another reason why I went with Sirius (or eh eh eh to some people lol) is The King of All Media will be there Jan. 1st 2006. Also on #28 Faction Mon-Fri Jason Ellis DJ's, he's funny as hell and always busts on stupid people.

In case anyone is wondering how you can mount them as well, here is a pic of my Sportster.
