Key Fob is all messed up, wont lock the doors, wont open the trunk, and barely opens the door. Its apparent I need a new fob. Checked with the dealership and itll cost me over $120 to get the fob and have it programmed. Is there any other way I can get this done without getting raped by the dealership???

 

Before doing that.. try holding lock + unlock next to the car it will try and sync with the car without doing that ****

Might wanna try and pop it open and clean the contacts in there. Just take a pensil eraser and clean them. Alot of times they will get gummed up and cause problems.

 

That's another thing.. both of mine were gummed to hell i used a wet wash cloth..

 

Not a good idea. As the water will cause corrosion later on, and you will REALLY need a new fob.

 

Rubbing alcohol would be a better choice than water if it's really gummed up. Or you can buy contact cleaner from Radio Shack.

 

you can get a new fob on ebay for like 20 bucks

 

I dont know man.. i did that a couple months ago and it looks fine to me i just opened it up looks like new .. i dried it with a Q-tip etc btw..
