Default Camaro alarm systems

Has anybody figured out how to put an alarm sensor on the gas cap yet? I would like to put a mico switch on the car and tie it into the alarm system so if anybody opens the gas latch when its armed it would set the alarm off.

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a locking gas cap ?

My alarm goes off if the fuel door is opened. No locking gas cap required.

I vote for the locking gas cap also.

You could wire in a pin switch with your trunk or hood switch but it would be a whole lot easier the other way

They flaten your tires and move on.

People who don't want to pay $4.00 a gallon for gas.

Get a locking gas cap, and if you have an aftermarket alarm, add a magnetic reed switch on the gas filler door.

Those cheap *******! So what gas costs more then it used to 4 years ago. Times have changed. So you spend 15 bucks more a week to drive your car. Big freakin deal. I can barely buy one round of drinks with that. Gas could truely be $4/gallon and I wouldn't change a thing. Get a job you cheap a$$es.

I got a freind that works at the stealership. He says that hes had alot of people come in recenly with holes drilled in the gas tank. Not only do they take your gas, but they mess up your car in the process.

Maybe they drill holes because modern cars have anti-siphoning devices built into the filler neck. And no, I'm not talking about the little flap at the top of the neck, there is a restriction or bend farther down in the filler neck that prevents a siphon hose from getting into the tank.

Last year, during the hurricanes, I tried to siphon gas out of my car and my wife's SUV for the generator but couldn't get the siphon hose into the tank of either one. This was with the standard 3/8" hose that comes with the siphon pump. I suppose a smaller hose might have worked but I didn't want to be at it all day. I ended up taking gas from the motorcycles.

Who steals the Gas? Teenagers pulling pranks? NO most likely crackheads and other low life. They steal your gas and a locking cap won't stop them but an alarm will draw attention to them and mess up their plans. I am not cheap by no means but I also am not going to put up with some little bastard stealing my fuel. I have a no tresspassing sign on my house so let me catch someone messing with my Z. I have wired in a micro switch thru a relay so if you lift the lid and the alarm goes off you better run like hell before the red dot locates you ***!

Why do the new users always revive ancient posts for their first post?

Hate to break the news to all of you saying to buy a locking gas cap but.... we used to take them off in a few seconds with large channel lock pliers and if that didn't work we had a pry bar with a stud welded onto it that would pop them right off. The channel locks would destroy the top section of the cap allowing you to pull the cap off the rest of the way without damaging anything, The pry bar would get it off but sometimes break part of the fill tube...either way they are easily removed. You wouldn't believe how many calls we got from people that lost the key or the key didn't work anymore. Punching a hole in the tank happens but not nearly as often as people starting up their vehicle and being startled because it was so loud..... after some asswipe cut the catalytic converter off of it.

This shows that the search engine works and that they researched the topic before messaging. This should be applauded not derided. They did good work.
