Default 2ohm source, 4 ohm speaker

ok, so i want to replace my front and rear speakers (the 6.5inchers that are powered by the amp) but as we all know the power coming from the amp is at 2ohms, and i can not find any 2 ohm speakers. so my only option is to get a 4 ohm speaker. my question is what will happen? will it hurt anything, will it sound good?
please let me know. thanks.

Say the amp is rated at 100watts @ 2ohms. Well with a 4ohm speaker it will only pull 50watts. So you can do it but it wont be ideal.

i think i might be looking into getting me a pair of those element designs and putting them in my sail panel location. those look like the can handle some serious bass for a 6.5 in woofer. just wondering if anybody has heard these or even has a pair?

Have you seen the video of a EU-700? I bet that thing will hit the back of the grill covers.

maybe they do have a huge excursion. but that was probably running 250 to 300 watts to it and our factory amps definitely don tpush that to the sail panel. 50 bucks apiece sounds nice to me.

You should just tear that thing out and get a decent 4 channel amp and new speakers... It costs more but the difference in sound will be huge. The monsoon amp is pretty much crap.

Those EU-700 speakers look great. I had got these kicker midbass drivers for 180 installed and they did not sound no where near as good as the factory subs. I wonder if the EU-700 will sound as good or better acuse if they do I will get those. Does anyone have a set, and if so how do they sound?

Were the kicker's rated at 2 ohm's? Someone on ED's forum replaced the stock subs with the 700's in his 98 T/A and they made a big improvment in the bass notes. The 700's are a direct replacement in how the power rating goes. But you'll have to cut the metal in the frame behind the magnet, or it wont fit.

Remember that the amp does not put out 2 ohms. When we say 2 ohms we mean its 2 ohm stable (capable of a 2 ohm load). The voice coil on the speakers actually determine the resistance that the amp sees in terms of ohms. You can learn alot from the stickies at the top of this fourm

I recently installed some EU-700's in my friends car. He has like a mid to late 90's accord. We put elemental designs edi 6000s in his front door panels, the EU-700's in his back speakers, then powered it all off a nine.4 with an alpine head unit, I believe it was a CDA-9845. Anyway, the EU-700's sound really good in my opinion.

In the back seat speaker area by the pasenger seats, if you put the EU-700's there, you will have to cut the inside of your car to fit the subs in, I also was considering putting EU-700's in there and I test fitted my friends and it smacks this metal panel.

yeah i just measured it and its only like 3 1/3 inch or something so i might have to do a little cutting. will this affect the airspace in the sail panel any?
