Stupid Monsoon Subs!! (((BLOWN)))
I started noticing a few weeks ago there seemed to be a huge drop in bass from the system. so i put my ear to the things, and nada!
That sucks
Car is a 2002.
Is there anything in the aftermarket category I can use to replace them?
maybe I should just add a aftermarket amp/sub
used to have a whole Alpine/JL Audio/Focal system in another vehicle, but had to sell it all. (financial deal)

the car only has 23k miles on it, so maybe they're covered by warranty still.
You'll be much happier with an aftermarket setup, theres a good thread about subs/amps with the stock head unit.
Personally I would replace it, things are just much clearer with aftermarket
You know, there should be a sticky on replacement subs for factory subs, or atleast those ED speakers

Josh, the ohm rating of the factory subs are 2 ohms, whereas nearly all aftermarket speakers will be at 4 ohms.
Edit: I found something for ya.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time

I'd thought the EU-600 ($55) would have been better. I didn't think the Monsoon amp could actually put out that much power. Especially at 4 ohm.
It makes sense the 700's wouldn't work, given their freq response is so low. As the stocks seem to be more of a midrange speaker than anything resembling a subwoofer.
Anyone actually know what the nominal power the stock amp puts out to these speakers? At a total of 500 Watts max, It has to be considerably less than 100 watts per channel.
Luckily, my sail speakers are still good for the moment. I'm waiting on my SPS-170A's to replace the door speakers.
