Default replace speakers for cheap

my girl has a 02 V6 camaro. her rear sail panel speakers are blown. she has the monsoon speaker system.

what speakers are a direct fit for the front door, sail panel, and rear hatch. i tried to get her to just get the door and hatch and only use those off of a head unit but she wants all 8 changed. so im just gonna change all but the front tweaters and run them off of an aftermarket head unit.

You'll have a tough time changing the door speakers but leaving the tweeters since they're coaxial.

These are not necessarily cheap (~$180):

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/IDSCX62

But they look to be the closest thing to a drop-in replacement for the sail panel speakers.

This is from the write up:
Fronts:
Alpine SPS-1005 Tweeters
Alpine SPS-170A 6 1/2's
These are a direct fit, but will have to do some electrical work to make them work with the monsoon system.

Are you going to replace the rear sail panel speakers with the SPS-170A's? If so, then it is going to sound like crap. Those are the subs in the monsoon system, and have a low pass crossover filtering them. You will need to replace them with a 6.5" sub.

I love these discussions about trying to get aftermarket items to work with the monsoon system. Just buy a new head unit and scrap the monsoon amp, wire the speakers to the new head unit... done. A decent head unit can be had for under $200 now... save yourself the headache!

Well, yes and no. Almost any 6.5" speaker will fit. But few 4 ohm speakers will sound good in place of stock 2 ohm speakers. The Alpine SPS-170A's seem to be the tried and true replacement for the door speakers. The original recommendations for the sail panels were Rockford RFP4406, which are no longer available. I have not seen anyone post about using the Alpines in the sails.

BTW: Camaro's don't need the separate tweeter, like the T/A's, in the door.

Yep, that was my point - the Camaro has coaxially mounted tweeter and woofer in the doors. The problem is that they're not like the coax speakers you buy aftermarket. The factory speakers still have separate input terminals for the tweeter and woofer even though they aren't separate pieces so you're going to have to figure out how to connect four wires to the two terminals on the replacement speakers.

It's explained here how to do that.

Why run new wires? Why not just loop at the AMP connector the respective wires?

I did that when i was powering the aftermarker hatch speakers off the aftermarket HU.

SSR,

I agree with your statement to some extent. However, for 50-75 W rms, I think the factory wires are fine. Especially at normal volume levels. If you always crank things up, then after market 14 or 16ga wires would be better.

I ran my install with 12g only because I had it on hand already - 12ga to all 4 corners including the sub.

If I had to do it over, I'd just buy a 100' role of 14 ga and save the 12ga for something else..

where what what color wires go to which speakers?
i that easier than running new wires? just run all four wires to the amp in the back and connect them to the output wires of the amp?

I don't think the question has been answerd yet.
Are there any direct replacement rear sail speakers other than stock?
The Alpine SPS 1005 Tweeters (Direct Replacement)
The alpine SPS 170A for the door(Direct Replacement)
What about the Sail & Rear Hactch?
Does anybody have the Answer?

I'm waiting for my translator to come online before replying - you should consider giving more care to your 'prose' if you want an accurate reply

However, wiring diagrams are readily available at this site;

http://www.houston-f-body.org/tech/monsoon/index.htm .

thanks 00TA. im hopeing the SPS 170A fit the sails too. so i can get four of those. aren't the sails a regular 6.5" although on crutchfields website, if you enter your car, that speaker doesn't come up as a direct replacment.

GPz. that site you posted says the sails are 6 inch?

and in my previous post, i was asking if it was easier to just run the aftermarket head unit wires to the monsoon amps output wires for the speakers.
