JL13W7 Question
JL13W7 Question Yes, I searched and can't find anything that answers this, so for all you audio guys: I miss my 2 comp. 12's and 2500 watts I filled my t-top well in on my 93 Z28. I am trying to save weight and still want some thump. I am looking into a JL W7, possible to fit into the open space on the left (usually where the changer would go, if equipped). My question is (1) will it fit?? (2) is it worth it. I know there's not that much air space, I am worried that it may not sound good??

those things require a shitload of airspace, way more than what the side hole has to offer, somewhere around .5 to .7 cubic feet in that hole. if you want some very nice hit but in that side opening, check out a pair of Kicker 10L7s, one on the passenger where the spare tire area is and one on the driver side in the hole. subthump makes a box for both sides. those things hit like a ****

I have one 10w7 on the pass side and it pounds!!!.... I am not sure of the airspace, but it is substantially more than .5 cubic feet, however I did have a fiberglass box made that takes up the entire side, we also integrated the top plastic piece and it got vinyled and dyed so that it matched perfectly... If you don't want to cut your original plastic panels, then you could buy some extras.

The 10W7 will fit, with a custom enclosure. I do not know why so many people say there are so many better subs out than the W7. There really are not, that are built as well, or have the level of output WITH sound quality that the JLW7s have. I have a new 12W7 sitting in my garage that I am selling for $450 shipped, but you would have to put it in the t-top well or build a pimp enclosure for the side that is all fiberglass. It can be done, you just need someone that is very good working glass to do it, and make it sound like it should. There are too many people out there that think you should be able to buy a $600 sub and put it in a crappy enclosure with a cheap *** amp and it should "pound". That just isn't the case unforutnately.... I own a custom installation shop, and have been doing full custom with all types of equipment for 13 years, so please feel free to PM me with any questions, etc. Later.
