Im wondering if the dash kit i have for my old 90 Z Cavalier will work on my 99SS being that GM's radios all seem to be the same size. Also, if the Clarion deck I bought came with a wiring harness, will I need to purchase another? Seems like a stupid question I know, but most on ls1tech.com recomend a Metra 70-1858. Thanks for any help.

the wiring harness is a 70-1858 the dash kit may work you probably have a 99-4544 dash kit, but they make nicer kits for the camaro 99-3300, or 99-4000

id get the wiring harness that plugs into the factory stereo. i just finished installin my clarion DXZ945MP a few days ago. you also will have to find a source for the 15A power wire for the radio as well as a suitable place for the ground for the radio(i grounded it on the linkage for the shifter). the factory wiring just isn't big enough. you also need an antenna adaptor if you don't already have one. https://ls1tech.com/forums/wiring-stereo-electronics/383796-need-15amp-source-radio-asap.html this is the thread i started about a 15A source. and i used the 99-3320 from crutchfield that i got when i bought the cd player

The Clarion I have has both a 3 amp and 15 amp hookup. Phoenix(the above poster) said he wired toe 15 to the cig lighter for a temporary fix. Does anyone know if the stock wiring can handle the 15?
