Default question about sound proofing...

Hey all,

I have some Dynmatting questions. I am about to do some extensive engine work (383 stroker, pro charger, long tubes and a cutout) so i am going to have some considerable cabin noise. This is still a regular driver for me, so i need something to kill as much noise as i possibly can. I have looked at at the sound deadening products available, but not sure what to go with. I looked at the Dynashield, the spray on stuff...and the Extreme. My question is, what is going to give me the utmost "protection" from all the noise that's sure to come. Also what if i used the spray stuff, let it cure a few days, then applied the Extreme matt stuff on top of that? Anyway, any help or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance,

Hawk

According to dynamat... you are supposed to use a layer of Extreme (or regular) and then a layer of ExtremeLiner (or DynaLiner) and that is supposed to block the most sound and heat. of course a couple more layers of anything would help more.

you're going to get what you pay for. if you try to be cheap, cheap not as effective product is what you are going to get.

check these guys out. they aren't cheap, but they are the shiz. you will need more than just the typical vibration deadener that everyone uses. that is only part of it. to do it right, you need to use the right products for the job. they'll even have a product application guide you can refer to.

If your spending all that money on a 383 with a procharger your going to want it to be as light as possible. I wouldnt put any of it in there.

nahhh.
my 383 is to have enough power to turn my alternators and propell my stereo on wheels down the road. the 350 just didn't cut it.

the point of the cutout is to have the car loud only when u want it? i dont think cabin noise will be a problem, unless u have dumps or something. fatmat is a good cheaper alternative to dynomat. u can get a huge roll on ebay for 99 bucks.

So do you think then, that the spray stuff first then the Extreme would be a good way to go??

Use the spray on stuff for HArd to reach areas. Put Regular matting on flat areas.

Try Elemental designs.

Their prices are pretty resonable and I haven't heard of anyone having problems with their stuff yet.

Also look at using a little Expanding foam to fill in dead areas. Not too sure where to spray it in yet. Haven't bothered to look yet. Sills, and Kick panels have a hollow are that would resonate sound.

The mark up on dynamat when I was selling it was almost 2x what it cost me.
You can negotiate the price with the right shop.
