Default Valentine 1 Mounting

Anybody who has a V1, where'd you put it? Our windshields are so long that when it's at eye level for me, the thing is half way down the damn windshield and I wanted to run the wires up to the top so it looks clean.

I mounted mine as high as it would go on the windsheild.
That way its hard for them to see when I get pulled over.

I've got mine right at the tint strip right next (or kinda above and to the side) of my mirror. Have it hardwired to the fuse panel running the wire through the headliner then down the a-pillar.

Edit: Here's a good website that has a pic of it mounted and how to wire it http://www.xse.com/leres/ss/v1.html

mines not that far over to the right, but close.

Same as thaar, but I wired in the hidden display and cut out the trim panel around the radio to flush mount it.

Mine is hardwired, and it is mounted kind of above the rear view mirror, on the drivers side of it. I use the visor clip and clip it directly to the headliner. I find this to be much more stable than using the suction cups.

I run a wire down the A-pillar and I also have a kill switch for it on the side of the console.

My remote display is mounted with the instrument cluster on both cars.

Here's a pic on the firebird:

Same here, hard wired above and just a lil to the right over the mirror.

Very nice install.

I have the separate unit as well, but don't use it. Most people from the outside can't see that I have a radar detector anyways.

Great Lakes Trophies sells mounting brackets for V1 and Escort detectors that bolt right up to the stock rear-view mirror bracket of C5's and C6's that look pretty cool. I have also heard of some people using them on the fbods..

Is the only way to hardwire using the fuse panel writeup mentioned above?!?

No its not the only way but it is the easiest IMO. A few buddies of mine have hardwired theirs off of the TCS or rear defrogger switches. The radio also has a power output that can be tapped in to.
