gauge cluster swap how to correct odometer?
gauge cluster swap how to correct odometer? I have a few questions. Fried my stock gauge cluster. Have a new one now, but the mileage is off. Is the board that has a lot of pins and is a big electronic chip attached to the board where the odometer is stored? I can unsolder it and resolder it to the new board if need be. any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Was replacing bulbs with LED's, and I guess one of the LED terminals must've touched something it shouldn't have OR I forgot to unplug battery before putting cluster back in, dunno, when I was pushing cluster in, it sparked then I saw smoke and smelled burning smell, pulled out took apart, and saw the runs, burned and popped up. Reconnected the runs with some wire (Soldered wires in place of runs--used to do pcb repair) and couldn't get it working right, so bought new one, and now mileage is off..

My guess is that when you soldered in the new LED's the other parts of the board got too hot and fried them.
There is no way to change the milage.
How far are you off? Over or under?

i had to replace a instrument cluster in a car, and i had to take the new cluster to a special shop that adjusted the miles for me, cost 100 or so, but it had to be an authorized odometer shop.
