the ipod woes
I have a 2000 v6 firebird. It does not have a Monsoon system. It has the standard single CD stereo. There is a 9pin plug on the back of the player. It looks exactly like this one, except it ISN'T the Monsoon version:

I bought the ipod2car made by Peripheral a few days ago (http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/ipod2car.asp). I tried hooking up to my stereo and it doesn't work. It won't let me switch to the ipod. But it charges the ipod. Basically, here is my question, do you have to have the Monsoon system to be able to use the port on the back to hook up to one of these adapters? To get the the CD changer do you just hit the "CD/Play" button? Also, what brand adapter is best for hooking up your ipod. I returned the one from Peripheral.
Thanks.

Did you try this:

I know that post is about the PIE GM9-AUX, but you are probably experiencing the same problem.
BTW, my headunit "forgot" how to talk to the GM9-AUX again and I'm going to have to go through the process I outlined again. Either my headunit is going or there is an intermittent power problem somewhere.

I have a 1999 Firebird also with the same base-level 4 speaker system and used the same adapter (with the same results). Are there any other tricks to getting it to work? The date on the top of the headunit says October 99
