Is my subwoofer done for ?
heres some pics of the damage....

I know it won't sound right without the center cap since it is essentially porting the box with it removed...
Is it possible to reattach it with some sort of adhesive ? Will it ever sound the same again ? or am I best off just buying a new sub...
You need to have it because dust will ruin the windings of the voice coil.
You can also get a little bit of cancellation from the rear and front waves because without it the pole piece will allow the two waves to meet.
I dont think its done for. You have a few options.
1. You can send it off to JL and have them seal it back up. or
2. You can try and glue it back yourself but the key is to apply the glue evenly
If you are unsure of the Dustcap issue, some old school stereo shops still do speaker repair and have the glue needed. Other than that, You can see what a Re-cone would run from JL. It's not that much usually. Something like $30-70 and shipping.

Don't worry, be happy.
I'll splurge and actually pay the shipping. . .I guess. . . .
Nah, joking obviously. . .
