Default Compnents or just speakers?

Lookin to replace entire system, going to get a new head unit and an amp to power the speakers.....should I go with 2 component systems or just get 4 6.5's?

Go with a component set up in the front. I have 6.5" components up front and regular 6.5" coax speakers in the sail panels.

definately aggree with these guys - components rock! just installed my jl audio xr-650csi set up front and jl audio xr-650cxi set in the sails, runnin off the stock amp (for now...about to get the jl audio 300/4 a/b amp when all the planets line up and i get a few extra bones in the bank). but the components and coaxials sound incredible just like they are now.

one thing to remember - be careful when u wire ur woofers up front -when my buddy an i were installing them, we found that the red/black and red wires going to the stockers changed colors twice as we traced them back into the car.

I plan on running all new wires from the amp to the speakers......what about getting a component system for both front and rear, overkill? Not worth the extra $$$???

Components front AND rear is a waste. You want your soundstage coming from the front. Anything from the rear is basically just fill. Might be nice if you have passengers...other than that, not neccessary. Coax's or even just a 6.5 mid bass is fine for the sails. Run with a quality set of components in the doors with a quality amp running them and you'll be very happy. I run a set of Boston Acoustic Rally Series components through a RF Power series 500.5 amp. Loud and clear sound with powerful mids/crisp highs and vocals. Any components from JL, Boston, MB Quart, CDT, Focal will do you right the first time without having to upgrade or take the door panels off again. Just make sure they have the seperate crossover. I saw some cheap JL Audio "components" that had a cap built into the tweeter like a coax but nothing for the 6.5 mid bass. They might sound ok but I stick with what I know!! Good luck!!

If your car is loud it makes no sense to waste money on expensive speakers or components. You're going to have all that background noise, you won't notice a difference.

Components are alot better for imaging and generally cost more
Co-axials are alot easier to install and generally cost less
You just have to find out whats more important to you

Pretty much will agree with most of what's already been posted. No need for a component set in the rear, but a nice addition for the front if you properly power them.
