Default Installed Alpine H/U and front speakers

I just installed my Alpine CDA-9856 h/u and Alpine SPS-17C2 front speakers last night and it sounds great!! Very clear and crisp sound. It took me a while because the moron that had the car before screwed everything up with the equipment he had installed. I had to rewire all of the front speakers because he cut all the wires under the dash. But I finally got it done and i spliced all of the new wires back into the stock speaker connectors and to the stock harness in case I ever wanna go back stock. I just wanna tell anybody who is thinking about upgrading, but is inexperienced, its not really hard at all. I am 19 and this was my first stereo install and it was cake, especially with everything that Crutchfield gives you for free. I even had to do some rewiring and soldering and as long as you pay attention to what you are doing its pretty easy. I am not even close to being an electrician, hell I had never even soldered before and I got through it painlessly. I just wanted to give a good review on these two products and I will soon be buying the Alpine SPS-100A speakers for the hatch and I believe the Audiobahn AMD60Q midbasses for the sail panel. If anyone is using the AMD60Q's, let me know how you like them.

Glad you got it all installed with out many problems. I dunno about Audiobahn, but I have had MB quart mid bass speakers in my old car, and they sounded really good.

Just a recommendation...skip the hatch speakers. They are really not worth the effort unless you pop the trunk for a visual display (monitors) and need sound back there for something...like a show. As far as everything else, sounds awesome. The Alpine stuff is great and usually quite affordable. I learned how to do car audio when I was 16. I am now 34 and have been enjoying it the whole time. Seeing the equipment get better and better as well as the technology. It is NOT that hard to learn and doesn't get hard until you get to some of the newer cars...even then the principles still stay the same. Glad to see your enjoying doing it yourself. Oh, the Audiobahn stuff has absolutely cool as hell looking stuff with huge magnets covered with vented poles but do yourself a favor...if you plan on putting any significant power to them, don't buy them. The voice coils suck. I am still amazed by how nice all their equipment looks and yet they can't make a speaker that doesn't blow. Try the Image Dynamics 6.5 mid bass...you will be alot happier. Price is reasonable too.

Okay, thanks for the tip on the audiobahn stuff. I'm not really running any power to them, just from the h/u. I don't have an amp and don't plan on getting one, I just want a little more bass to make me happy. Will the Image Dynamics still sound decent if I am only powering them from my h/u??

A amp for this mid-bass would be the best to go with because the hu is not going to give it that much bass...
