Need advice for a small audio upgrade I was thinking that my audio system would be perfected with just a bit more bass. I really like the Monsoon setup, but if it would just hit a little harder, I'd be very satisfied.
Is there any alternative to the stock setup that's not really very expensive? I don't need anything crazy or overboard. I definitely only need one subwoofer. Is there a stock replacement I could do that wouldn't involve buying a subwoofer box?

I don't think you could get around a subwoofer box. This would add one 10" sub and would not cost an arm and a leg. I had the MTX Thunderform and it sounded decent. If you pick that up and a 300Wrms amp, you would be golden. Add the amp install kit and the adapter to tie into your stock system, that would be all you need. You will be pleased with the end result.
Third to chime in. Maybe try to find a used stealth box, a used amp off ebay, but go for a new sub. There are plenty of amp options to feed a 10" for under $100. Very nice solution achievable for under $300.
Going really cheap, you could add a 6.5" or 8" self-amplified tube mounted on the main hatch shelf. The enclosure design, amp power, and woofer quality mean even a 6.5" tube will add a nice boost to a factory monsoon.
I'm 95% confident a good 8" would give you more than the boost you are looking for. You can get these new for well under $200. Very commonly sold used as well, with really good deals if you are willing to replace the sub. Circuit city sells an $100 amplified 6.5", I think. Might be a good "try and take it back if you don't like it" option.
