i just replaced the fuse and it blew again. the only thing i noticed was that the metra harness has a "dimmer" wire but there was no dimmer wire on my new headunit harness. should i connect it to something ?

No, but make sure the dimmer wire in the Metra harness isn't grounding out on something. Tape it up to be safe.

You mean power your Humount lights with the dimmer wire? Yes you can do that but you may not get the results you expect. I believe the Humount uses LEDs. You might find that the display just cuts out when you turn down the dimmer because LEDs don't dim very well like ordinary bulbs do.

Well, that depends. If you want the Humount lights to dim with the dash lights then try the dimmer wire. The LEDs will dim to a certain point but they will shut off if you turn it down too far. If you want the Humont lights bright all the time then leave them hooked up to the parking light wire.
