Default Need a switched ignition source

I dont have a haynes manual or anything... so im trying to locate an ignition source so i can wire my Autometer gauges.

Can some one tell me the color and where the the wire is for this please?

The best place is the IGN socket in the fuse box. It is a single spade terminal socket that was designated by GM for installation of aftermarket accessories. There are also BATT (constant) and ACCY (retained accessory power) sockets there as well. Be sure to put a fuse in your connection because those sockets are only protected by a 30 amp fusible link.

For something with a low current draw you could tap into the yellow wire in the black 10-pin connector at the radio but that is accessory power so your gauges will stay on after you shut off the ignition until you open a door.
