Default Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector

I recently bought one of these off ebay and i love it but just recently occassionally it will beep at me and say service required. I usually just unplug it and plug it back in and its fine but if its doing it then it must need something but it still works fine when it doesnt say service required and i dont have the manual for it since i got it off ebay. Do any of you know what the heck this thing is needing or how to fix it? Any help is appreciated!

You have to be very careful buying detectors from Ebay for that very reason. No wonder they seller got rid of it. Basically, the only thing you can do is send it back to Escort for repair. I think it is $45.

Or, you could put it back on ebay
