Ok guys, you'll have to forgive me because I am not very knowledgeable about car stereo electronics. I'm thinking of purchasing a new head unit for my 2000 Z28 w/Monsoon system. I think I've narrowed it down to the Apine head units listed above. The only features I need are MP3 playback and ability to use my stock steering wheel controls. Which I'm sure both of these decks support (as long as I get the SWI-ALP adapter). I have no clue what the rest of the features are, no clue! Can anyone tell me what the pros and cons are for these HU's?
So far I've installed Alpine SPS-170A's in the front doors. I plan on getting a 10" sub (or two subs) in stealth boxes. And of course some amps to power the subs. Will any of these decks work well with my setup? Or perhaps a lower end deck like the 9856? Any help would be appreciated!

personally dealing with lots of stereo equipment i do not like the new Alpine decks we have seen more failures than anything. IF i were you i would look for a Eclipse (not as flashy but have the best SQ and tuneing features for a good priced deck. i would look for a 8445, 8454, or pioneer 860mp (great deck with awesome features) but if you set on Alpine forget the newer stuff and find a 9835. Great decks, should find them for great prices and are more than enough for what your looking for.
