Speakers
So it is about time I do something about my blown speakers. I know that many of the speakers out there right now are 4 ohm. I see that Infinity now makes some 2 ohm speakers, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the sound quality was like form these speakers. Does it compare to stock, is it better than stock, or worse. If anyone could let me know, I am looking for some I can just directly replace the factory ones with and so far these look like a pretty good option. Thanks in advance everyone. Also if you do have some and have a positive opinion on them could you also tell me what model you have.

I can't vouch for the Infinity's as I've never heard them. I've replaced all of my stock speakers with aftermarket ones. All of mine are 4 ohm. They are just as loud as stock with better clarity.
Note: The Monsoon System is rather low powered (30W to 50W RMS). So you'll want a highly sensitive speaker to get good volume out of them.
While this may sound contrary to common sense, speaker impedance is not the most important factor for Monsoon replacement speakers. It is true that a 2 ohm speaker will draw more current than a 4 ohm speaker (hence more power) at the same volume level, that does not mean that the 2 ohm speaker will necessarily be louder than the 4 ohm one. Electrical power is not the same as sound power. Also there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that 4 ohm speakers are likely to blow sooner because the Monsoon amp was designed to drive 2 ohm speakers.
Firebird's with the Monsoon system do have 4 ohm dual voice coil (DVC) speakers in the sail panels. However, unlike normal DVC setups the 2 speaker coils are driven independantly from the Monsoon Amplifier. This likely means these speakers are not ordinary DVC speakers or the circuit is tuned specifically for them. If they were ordinary DVC speakers, any differences in two inputs would create distortion as the two coils work against each other. If you want to replace them with aftermarket single voice coil speakers (as if you could find 6.75" DVC aftermarket midbasses), you will want to only hook up one pair of inputs to each speaker. I'd use the coil2 (+) and (-) wires for each as these are the wires the Camaro's SVC speakers use (I'm assuming GM used the same 500W Monsoon Amplifier in both the Camaro and Firebird setups).
As for specific speaker recommendations, these are ones I use in my SS:
Doors:
Alpine SPS-170A 6.5" 2-way Coaxial speakers (2006 model: SPS-17C2). Note: In the Monsoon system, the door tweeters are driven by the head unit, while the woofers are driven by the amplifier. So these speakers require a small modification detailed elswhere on this forum. These are a great value at $55 a pair on the net. Another popular choice is the Infinity KAPPA 62.7i.
Sail Panel:
Pioneer Premier TS-M7PRS 6.75" Midbass. I like these so much, if my Alpines ever go out, I'll likely put pioneers in the doors also. These are a bit pricey at about $200 a pir, but worth every penny in my opinion. I've never heard them, or read any feedback from someone who has installed them, but the specs on the Audiobahn AMD60Q look like they might work well back here. I'm a bit concerned about the 3.5" mounting depth, though.
Rear Hatch:
Alpine SPS-100A 4" 2-way Coaxial speakers (2006 model: SPS-10C2). Unlike the Firebird setup, Camaro's have only a 4" midrange back here. Dropping in a 2-way speaker here made the single most noticeable difference in the overall sound of the system.

Just my opinion.

I have two different sets of infinitys, one coax, doors for camaro, and one set of components, I have a firebird. The real question is which speakers you are referring to, doors, hatch or sail panel?
Chameleons are a bit pricey. I don't think it's worth spending $500+ on 6 speakers if your wanting to keep the rest of the stock Monsoon setup.
I spent a total of $320 on mine. Some people consider that too much.
