Hey all I just recently purchased a 1999 trans am and it does have the anti-theft I beleive because the alarm started going off when I was playing with the unlock lock on the door, didnt turn off till I started the car, can I just get a universal remote from autozone and do the things mentioned in the faq? or Do I need to get the one from the dealership with part # 16245100 i have a little LED by the center of the defroster so im guessing I have the anti-theft, does anyone know how much that keyfob cost? and does it just unlock the doors or what else does it do? thanks guys!

Get fobs of eBay. Make sure to order the correct PN, and the programming method is in your manual.

The factory key fob has lock, unlock, panic, and hatch release buttons. Your factory alarm can be programmed to arm when you lock with the remote or automatically whenever you leave the car but you will need the remote to disarm it.

I got a fob off of ebay for about half what it costs at a dealer. I could have even gotten cheaper. It works real good.
