Default What is needed to upgrade to a CS-144 type alternator?

My stock alternator is on it's last leg... bearing-wise, and regulator-wise...

I'm in the market for an aftermarket HO alternator, and the CS-144 casing seems like the best... what would I need to do to get the 144 mounted up?

I can stick with the CS130 casing, but they are much more expensive than similarly-rated CS144s....

anyone have any experience with this swap?

CS130

CS144

the CS144 casing goes up to friggin' 300A...

no one? the CS130s are rediculously-expensive to get over 160amps, and have horrible idle response because of the limitations of internal area....

anyone know if it can be done, or what parts would be needed to go to a CS-144? Would I need a new belt?

Best thing to do is leave the e-bay crap where it is and call a company like ohio generator and see what they can do for you. We use their alternators all of the time and work and while expensive it will NEVER die.

what I'm really wondering, is will the alternator PHSYICALLY fit? will special mounts be needed, and what wiring harness is necessary?

I'm surprised more people haven't done this, because I've called MANY shops now... all over the U.S., and I get the same answer... the CS-130D-style alternators are very limited... about 250A/90A for about $400 is what I can expect...

if I could fit a CS-144 in it's place, it would run cooler, and since there is more interal room, they put out more like 150A at idle, and up to 350A max...

is there a big difference in the layout of the LS1 engine compared to the LT1s that came with the CS144?? I don't understand why they would switch back to the CS130D

btw, I've heard nothing but praise for Irragi Alternators... every car audio forum has references to them...
