What is needed to upgrade to a CS-144 type alternator?
I'm in the market for an aftermarket HO alternator, and the CS-144 casing seems like the best... what would I need to do to get the 144 mounted up?
I can stick with the CS130 casing, but they are much more expensive than similarly-rated CS144s....
anyone have any experience with this swap?
CS130
CS144
the CS144 casing goes up to friggin' 300A...
anyone know if it can be done, or what parts would be needed to go to a CS-144? Would I need a new belt?
I'm surprised more people haven't done this, because I've called MANY shops now... all over the U.S., and I get the same answer... the CS-130D-style alternators are very limited... about 250A/90A for about $400 is what I can expect...
if I could fit a CS-144 in it's place, it would run cooler, and since there is more interal room, they put out more like 150A at idle, and up to 350A max...
is there a big difference in the layout of the LS1 engine compared to the LT1s that came with the CS144?? I don't understand why they would switch back to the CS130D
