guages acting screwy

guages acting screwy this may or may not be electrically related but here goes...on my way to work this morning i noticed a light on the gauge cluster would pop up for a split second every minute or so, never really long enough to make out which one it was but after a while i noticed it was only doing it when i applied the brakes. so when i finally got to work i got a chance to look and it turns out its the air bag light. then to make things even more wierd as i went to pass someone and right as i was about to shift (5k range) every instrument went completley ape ****. all the gauge lights came on, the tach, gas, temp, speedo, EVERYTHING started doing the wave from 0-max, and while all this is going on the enginge never changed tone,lurched, hesistated,...nothing. o ya and the radio cut off too. this lasted about 2 seconds and then everything went back to normal. that is except for the trip counter which reset to zero by itself for the 3rd time in 2 days
