Default What are the best speakers to replace my stock monsoons with?

I've got a TA with the monsoon setup and right now my sail panel speakers are both blown and the door speakers are useless for bass. I have 2 12" subs which are good for lows (way too much actually) but they don't put out midbass.

I need speakers I can just install and won't have to wire amps and components.

I'd like some good midbass, be able to turn them up loud without distortion, and not spend too much money of course.

Do you recommend replacing the hatch speakers?

THanks

try the search button, it's your best friend. or you can read through a few pages of this thread, and you'll find tons. people usually go with alpines or infinity. depending on how much you want to spend.

I used Infinity Kappa 60.7cs comps in my doors with the stock amp for awhile and had no issues. Install was easy, no fuss no muss. I think they may be a little light in the midbass dept, but the price isn't bad and they work well with the monsoon amp and no modification required. Just my .02. Oh yeah, I would forget about the hatch speakers unless you really like the rear fill.

Will they get a lot louder than the stock speakers without distortion? Cause I wasnt to be able to turn them up really loud and not hear them crackling

Alot of the distortion is from the Monsoon head unit. If you want to crank it loud, you'll want to replace that.

The infinitys sound much better than the stock speakers. If you are sticking with the stock H/U and amp, I think they are the way to go. However they can't be blamed for a poor signal from that monstrosity of a H/U.

If you really want some hardcore speakers check out reaudio.com They make some seriously impressive car audio stuff. I've heard good things about their components.

I have a JVC head unit, but it doesnt seem to be that great of quality and cds skip really easily. Do you think distortion is mostley from the head unit or speakers? Once it gets past 26 on most songs it distorts alot.

The stock speakers in the monsoon system are known for blowing. Chances are you need speakers, but then again I don't know much about your H/U.
