have a 2 monsoon speakers blown.....
have a 2 monsoon speakers blown..... I wanna know which speakers i will need to replace these... both are blown, they are the rear two speakers for bass. anyone know where you can get these?? any idea of where i could possibly get used ones? car has no bass at all now, (i removed my sub). i heard someone refer to it as a sail pannel speaker??? i dunno... any input on this would be awesome... thanks
I would recommend searching for "sail" to find info about these. New GM parts cost a fortune, and buying used is a crap shoot. Think about it, any driver coming from a donor car is about 5 years old by now.
You can replace with stock if you want, just don't be suprised if you have the same problem again.

IF you want a good set of relatively inexpensive aftermarket speakers to drop back there, I'd go with Alpine SPS-17C2's. Remember the stockers are dual voice coil, so there are 4 wires going to each speaker. You want to use only one of the coil pairs to each single voice coil replacement. I'd recommend using the Coil 2 wires, which correspond to the outputs used in for the SVC stockers in the Camaro setup.
The wire colors for these are:
Driver's Side: Dk. Blue/White = Speaker (+)
Lt. Green/Black = Speaker (-)
Passenger's Side: Dark Green = Speaker (+)
Lt. Blue/Black = Speaker (-)

I have blown the door speakers and the rear sail spealers at least two maybe three times..I always just buy a pair out of the LS1tech parts for sale section..there are always some for sale there..usually pay 30 bucks for a pair..finally got tired of the POS monsoon factory stereo and replaced the whole system..you will too in the end..that is why there are always monsoon head units and speakers for sale in the for sale section..
