That amp will run the sub at 250 watts RMS and 360 if the sub was 2 ohm.

Default dvc

so you are saying I would need a dual voice coil speaker (which the infinidy is not) wired it in parrell to get the most out of the amp? and if it is to loud then just turn the gain down.

I'm thinking maybe just get the amp & sub from Pioneer and be done with phase 1 of my audieo buildup.

I'm finding out not many amp cos. offer a front bass ***.

Thanks

From the looks of the impendance rating, that might be a dual 2 ohm or 8 ohm. So I think the final load will be 1 ohm and 4 ohm.

This one here is nice, but it might be out of your price range.

What kind of box are you going to use?

Default infinidy 10.1 has better specs than the VQ

I believe that the older model 10.1 infinidy is a better sub than the VQ

VQ Sensitivity: 87 dB 10.1 - 94dB more efficeint
RMS Power Range : 75-400 Watts 75-350rms
Peak Power Handling: 1600 Watts 1400Watts
Impedance: Dual 4 Ohm unchanged
Low Frequency response: 25 Hz 18Hz better for low notes
High Frequency Response: 400 Hz 200Hz

box is a homemade fiberglass stealth sub thump .6 cubic inch.
this is another reason I like the 10.1 works well in a small box.

I'll check into JL amps/ bass **** I have also been told that a **** can be added to any amp.

Thanks

You will have about the same frequency responce and loudness with either driver, while the VQ (with the low Q insert) holds a very very slight advantage in frequency responce, it is nothing substantial, approximately 1db louder at 20hz with 250 watts.

You do highlight why I don't like infinity though, their specs are misleading. The sensitivity of both drivers is roughly the same. The spec on the VQ is an honnest industry standard spec while the 10.1 is the in car number, the same applies to the "low frequency responce" spec. Both drivers will preform almost identically in loudness and frequency responce in your box, buy which ever is cheaper if you must buy infinity.

Also, The remote bass control on the pioneer is a bass boost, not a gain, so it is no different than what you already have. If your goal is removing the typical car audio boominess, this is not going to help you.

Upgrading your amp from a 250w to a 360 is only going to gain you about 1.5db to 2db in additional output, while it would make your new sub as loud or louder than your RF at all frequencies it is a very minor upgrade at best. If you are looking for a noticably louder setup you may want to consider a 12" (or larger) sub, multiple subs, a ported enclosure, more power and a sub that can take it, or all of the above.
