got a ?
I would think since my deck has seperate sub woofer controls in it that hookin up my amp would not affect the rest of the cars audio, correct. Since the only wires from the deck are a remote & RCA's, then the power from the battery to the amp.
So my ? is, if the deck is still running through the Monsoon amp & the deck is already rated a 200watts(50x4) what speakers should I get to replace my stock components & sail panels?? I have heard to just get new Monsoon. Is that a good option??
huh?
maybe he is talking about max power, and not rms
internet tuff guy , huh ? My rule is to never type a forum post or email that I'm not willing to say in person. I know what STFU stands for, and if someone looking for help said that to me in person, I'd bitch slap them right in the mouth.
now, back on topic...
just putting into perspective that wattage numbers on head units are grossly overstated. Max, RMS, ILS (if lightning strikes), the fact is that there is nothing that legally requires a company to portray these numbers accurately. Some companies have better rating guidelines then others. With amplifiers, it's not quite as bad, atleast not with the better brands. And those that follow the CEA-2006 standards atleast have some common ground so you can actually compare numbers between 2 different companies. But when if comes to head units, everyone bends the rules to get the maximum ratings they can put on the box.
you are correct, in that you could hook a new amp and sub to your head units sub output, without having to modify any of the existing wiring in the audio system.
For replacement speakers, I would not get new monsoon speakers. No need to drop serious coin on new speakers if you are keeping the monsoon amp, but even mediocre aftermarket speakers will outlast stock ones.
I am missing my driver side sail speaker & my fronts are gettin bad. I was just wondering about the monsoon stuff since I read that the monsoon system runs @ 2 ohms & most aftermarket replacements run @ 4 ohms. I just want some new speakers I can put in & be done without having to change anything else or run anymore audio wires.

Speaker choice is such a personal aspect, what sounds good to some sounds like crap to others. The best advice I could give is to get out to different shops or even car club hangouts and try to listen to different setups.
